Our members have a lot of great things to say about Members Trust Federal Credit Union and we want to share member testimonials from our valued members. Each quarter, we highlight one member who wants to share the “good news” about Members Trust FCU.
To kick off 2025, we’re talking to Mr. Sam Dominquez from Houston, Texas. Mr. Dominquez has been a member for 40 years!

Tell me about yourself and how you came to join Members Trust.
“I first joined when I was a machinist, and the credit union was called Houston Milk Producers Federal Credit Union. I learned about the credit union because they came and talked to our company and employees. Initially, I opened a savings account so that I could cash my paycheck and deposit a portion into my savings account.”
What was your banking experience before joining Members Trust?
“I had a savings and a checking account at Texas Commerce Bank – now Chase Bank. They were OK but they never really got to know me personally. I still have an account there but I still don’t have much of a ‘personal relationship’ with them.”
What is your favorite thing about using Members Trust for your financial services?
“I feel that the credit union takes the time to get to know its members and build relationships. I feel comfortable calling or visiting the credit union whenever I have a question or need anything.”
How has Members Trust helped you?
“I later became a teacher and with that, our financial needs changed over the years. I eventually opened a checking account and applied for a loan to make home repairs. I paid that first loan off early!
Just like most people, I worked hard to prepare for a comfortable retirement. I retired from teaching just before the pandemic and felt prepared; however, inflation changed the financial picture for our retirement plans.
Because of the personal relationship and loan experience I’ve had with the credit union, it was a ‘natural fit’ to call and get the help I needed, when I needed it. I called to inquire about a Home Equity loan, to make sure we can enjoy our retirement the way we had planned.
I talked to Johnny Saravia who guided me through the entire loan process.”
On a scale of 1 – 10 (ten being the best), how would you rate our member service?
“I give Members Trust a 10. They personally know their members and that makes a big difference.”
What else would you like to add?
“I appreciate that they have been there for me when I needed help over the years. I planned for my retirement but like many people, things changed, and they were willing to help. I was never worried that they wouldn’t help. It was just a matter of completing the paperwork. Mary and Johnny are always willing to help when I have questions. I appreciate the relationship we’ve had for over 40 years.”
