Opening Doors to Higher Education
At Members Trust Federal Credit Union, we believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for shaping a brighter future. That’s why every year, we proudly award scholarships to deserving local students who demonstrate academic excellence, community involvement, and a drive to succeed. The Members Trust scholarships are more than just financial assistance — they’re an investment in the leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers of tomorrow.
This year, we’re thrilled to recognize four outstanding scholarship recipients who are taking big steps toward achieving their dreams.

Why Scholarships Matter
College tuition and related expenses can be overwhelming, but opportunities like Members Trust Scholarships can help bridge the gap. Scholarships are essentially “free money” — funds you don’t have to pay back — and they can significantly reduce the financial burden of higher education.
We encourage every student to actively seek out scholarships from schools, local businesses, community organizations, and national programs. Whether it’s $500 or $5,000, every dollar earned through scholarships helps reduce future student debt. The key is to start early, research options, and apply for as many as possible. Don’t get discouraged if you aren’t awarded scholarships right away when you start applying! Persistence pays off. Even smaller awards can add up over time and help cover textbooks, supplies, technology needs, or everyday living expenses while in college.
Tips for Finding More Scholarships and “Free Money” for College
Scholarships are out there — you just have to look in the right places!
- Check with your school counselor – They often have lists of local and regional scholarships.
- Search online databases – Websites like Fastweb, com, and College Board’s BigFuture can connect you to hundreds of opportunities.
- Ask local organizations – Credit unions, banks, nonprofits, and businesses often sponsor scholarships.
- Look for niche awards – Scholarships exist for specific majors, hobbies, talents, and even unique personal experiences.
- Apply early and often – The more you apply, the better your chances of winning multiple awards.
