Building Stronger Community for our Members
At Members Trust, we believe in more than just financial services—we believe in building stronger community that is more connected. Through our latest events and initiatives, we’re making a meaningful impact by supporting local causes, hosting educational workshops, and bringing people together. Whether it’s sponsoring charitable events, engaging in volunteer efforts, or providing financial literacy programs, our commitment to serving our members and neighbors remains at the heart of everything we do. Here’s a look at how we’ve been living out our mission of building stronger community connections!
Heights Chamber Crawfish Festival
On Saturday, March 29th, our Houston Branch attended the Greater Heights Area Chamber of Commerce Crawfish Festival. As a Platinum Sponsor for the Chamber of Commerce, we hosted a booth and provided giveaways and door prizes.
A portion of the proceeds from all Chamber events goes to the Greater Heights Community Fund. They raise money to help with different needs around the Heights area. The primary focus is academic scholarships for students in our community. Last year they gave 30 scholarships to local high school seniors.
Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo – Calf Scramble
We proudly support the Calf Scramble Program at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which supports students in the FFA program. Each participant uses donated funds to purchase and care for an animal of their choice, preparing it for exhibition in two separate shows.
For the 2024 program, which began in March of last year, we were paired with Joslyn Harrell from Cypress, TX. The selection process is determined by the rodeo and sponsors are assigned a participant based on the outcome of the scramble event on their designated night. After the scramble, we had the opportunity to meet our student! We receive periodic updates throughout the year from Joslyn, including photos and progress reports.
The Calf Scramble Program is an incredible initiative that provides young participants with valuable experiences in responsibility, agriculture, and showmanship. Over the years, we have had the privilege of sponsoring some outstanding students, each bringing their unique dedication and enthusiasm to the program.
Stephenville Chamber Gala
We were proud to participate in the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet and Auction on Friday, February 28th by purchasing and decorating a table. Our own Lance Gilliland even helped with the live auction.
Our Stephenville Branch team did a great job decorating for this event.
Members Trust is proud to be a Platinum Sponsor of the Pasture to Packer program. Pasture to Packer is a youth program designed to teach young people the real economic facets of feeding cattle while providing educational information for the future of agriculture.
Participants go on educational trips to top agricultural businesses in the industry. Students learn:
- Select and feed out a 750-800 lb. steer in about 170-178 days
- Cute side manners
- Livestock identification
- Complete a loan application for a steer
- Record keeping
- Essay writing
- Marketing and selling the steer
Annual Meeting
On Thursday, April 17, 2025, we held our Annual Meeting at our Houston Branch. Attending your credit union’s annual meeting is a great opportunity to have your voice heard and stay informed about the future of your financial institution.
As a member-owner, you can learn about MTFCU’s financial health, upcoming initiatives, and community impact. It’s also a chance to engage with leadership, ask questions, and vote on important decisions that shape the organization.
Your participation helps strengthen Members Trust and ensures it continues to serve members’ best interests. We look forward to seeing you next year!
